World Billiards (WBL) are delighted to announce that Aonghus McAnally has joined its Board of Directors.
McAnally is known to many as a regular competitor in WBL events and as a member of the Irish national team. He is also a Class 1 referee and a board member of Snooker & Billiards Ireland.
Away from the baize, the Irishman has had an extensive broadcasting career as a radio and television producer and presenter, working for public service broadcaster RTÉ for 40 years until his recent retirement. For over 25 years Aonghus was a commentator at the Irish Masters Snooker tournament at Goffs, as well as being a renowned actor.
The Board is confident that the skills and enthusiasm that Aonghus brings to the role, in conjunction with those of the existing team, will ensure WBL continues to grow over the coming years.
Aonghus McAnally said: “Away from my work as an entertainer and broadcaster, my passion is the wonderful game of Billiards. So I am both humbled and thrilled to have been invited to join the Board of WBL. I eagerly look forward to continuing the great work being done to expand the game across all generations and territories. For me, as a player and referee, this position is the icing on the cake.”
Jason Colebrook, World Billiards Managing Director, said: “I am delighted to welcome Aonghus to the Board. His passion for Billiards is well known; his media and organisational skills will be invaluable. I look forward to working with him.”
