Scottish Open – 28-29th January ’23

The Scottish Open returns to Styx in Kirkcaldy. This level 3 World Ranking event, the first of the year, takes place on the 28-29th January 2023. We are grateful for the support of Styx in hosting this event. The group stage will take place on Saturday, with the knockout rounds and Challenge Cup (for non-qualifiers) on Sunday. Live streaming will be available on our YouTube channel.

The competition is being played in memory of Hugh Elden, for the Elden Cup. Hugh was one of Scotland’s most respected players who sadly passed away in 2015.

Kirkcaldy is on the east coast mainline which runs from London Kings Cross via York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Inverkeithing to Kirkcaldy, continuing north to Dundee and Aberdeen. Trains from Edinburgh to Perth and Inverness also come this way every hour or two. From Glasgow, Manchester or Birmingham, change at Haymarket. The station in Kirkcaldy is about a 3 minute drive, or 10 minute walk, from the venue.

Bus – Stagecoach Bus X58 / X60 runs from Edinburgh via Inverkeithing to Kirkcaldy (70 mins). It runs hourly, daily.

Air – the nearest airport is Edinburgh Airport. From the airport it takes about an hour to travel to Kirkcaldy Station, via tram to Edinburgh Gateway and then the next train to Kirkcaldy. These run regularly throughout the day. Check out Trainline for prices.

Car – From south or west, exit M90 at Jcn 2A onto A92 eastbound, then take A910 into town.

The closest hotel to the venue is the Victoria Hotel, situated right next door. The hotel was reserved for World Billiards but we are aware all rooms are now taken, with many players choosing to re-book at their last visit. However, there are a number of local hotels and guest houses in Kirkcaldy. There is also a Premier Inn (Glenrothes) around a 10 minute drive from the venue.
