2022 World Billiards Championship

The 2022 World Billiards Championship is heading to Singapore!

We are pleased to announce that the 2022 World Billiards Championship will be hosted by Cuesports Singapore and held at the Ronnie O’Sullivan Snooker Academy.

We’re excited to take the World Championship to Singapore for the first time and look forward to fantastic, state of the art playing conditions.

The event will be preceded by the Singapore Open Billiards Championship which will be a Level 3 ‘warm-up’ event. The 2022 RoSSA World Billiards Championship, level 6, will follow directly after.

November 19th – 20th – Singapore Open Billiards Championship
November 21st – 24th – 2022 RoSSA World Billiards Championship

Both events will be played under the timed match format.

Entry Criteria:

National Governing Bodies have been invited to nominate up to 8 players, plus one junior and one woman player into the World Championship. Expressions of interest have also been sent to the top 60 players in the World Ranking list initially.

The Singapore Open is open to all and entries will open soon.

Hotel & Travel:

The tournament hotel for players and officials is the Hotel Royal @ Queens.

  • Executive room (1 or 2 guests), room and WiFi only – S$165 per night (approx. £99)
  • Executive room (single occupancy), including breakfast and WiFi – S$175 per night (approx. £105)
  • Executive room (twin room), including breakfast and WiFi – S$185 per night (approx. £111)

To book your room, please email sharon@royalqueens.com.sg and put “World Billiards” in the subject line.

Hotels in Singapore are expensive, and the rooms are usually quite small. We believe we have negotiated the best deal available at a well located venue with good sized rooms.

The twin share rooms have king single beds. There is reasonable wardrobe hanging space, a luggage rack, a desk and chair, an armchair, an iron and ironing board, kettle, small refrigerator. The buffet breakfast is served daily from 7.00 am to 10.30 am – but some players might prefer to make their own breakfast arrangements.

The hotel is located in the historic section of the city centre, near to 4 different MRT (subway) stations – one only 2 minutes walk. There are many food and entertainment options close by, and getting around Singapore is very easy and inexpensive.

Full details of travel arrangements to the venue will be advised in due course. All participants will receive a detailed information pack advising them on how to make the most of their time in Singapore, with a number of recommendations.

Singapore Changi Airport to the hotel is a 20 minute taxi journey, costing around S$30, or 45 minutes on the MRT costing around S$5.

The events will be played on 12 x Star tables with steel block cushions and heated slates. All tables will be covered with Strachan Superfine cloth on the bed and 30oz 6811 on the cushions. State of the art LED lighting illuminates the tables.
