The Canadians were once again perfect hosts as the Winnipeg Veterans English Billiards League welcomed the World Billiards fraternity into town for the Vimy Ridge Classic followed by the Pan-Am Cup. Mike Russell faced a tough match in the Vimy Ridge final against India’s Dhvaj Haria, with the Englishman getting over the line by 477-405. In his semi-final against Peter Gilchrist, it was an extraordinary finish and Russell prevailed by just one point.
In the Pan-Am Cup, a major (level 5) event, Peter Gilchrist got into his stride with a win oven Dhvaj Haria in the semi-finals and Dhruv Sitwala in the final. Canada’s Kevin Augusta and Rick Kendall reached the quarter-finals.
In the Vimy Ridge Challenge Cup, it was a local battle as Ed Buchan defeated Dan Lougheed in the final.
