David Samuels

David was introduced to EBOS by regular competitor Peter Stanyer who suggested that he entered the  EBOS British Open in Bradford in 2011. He made an immediate impact by  qualifying for the last 16.  There was no disgrace in being comfortably beaten by an in-form Robert Marshall at the first hurdle of the knockout  stage.

He has been playing billiards, mainly for fun, since he was 14 and has been  an active member of the Bury Amateur Billiards League for almost 50 years.   For most of that time (almost 30 years) he has also been the Press Secretary.   This season, the two leagues in Bury amalgamated, and he has taken on the Press  secretary’s role again.
Over the years his standard of play has gradually  improved and he is now one of the top five players in the league.  His highest league break (65 unfinished) was in a league match, ironically against his brother, in 2009.

David plays with a 9mm blue diamond tip on a two-piece cue,  which he was given as a present.
