John Hartley

John Hartley, 32, was a regular on the EBOS circuit and achieved his biggest win when taking the 2010 European Open title in Bulgaria, his first EBOS event victory.

Formerly a regular supporter and competitor on the EABA circuit, representing them in several international events, John has now turned most of his attention to his role as Chairman and Director of Competitions for the EASB, meaning playing opportunities are limited to just one night a week at the moment.

He uses a GBL (Green Baize) maple 3/4 piece cue with a Talisman tip.
This is my first maple cue, I have had it just short of a year now, and I cant see me ever going back to ash, it just seems so much firmer and easier to control.

John’s highest break in competition is 175, made in a Hartlepool League Individual semi-final a few seasons back. His highest break in practice is 207 and in an EBOS event is 134.

John also coaches around 30 players at the Hartlepool Coaching Academy, an initiative he set up in 2005, which has now seen no fewer than ten players go on to represent England at either Snooker or Billiards.
