2018 World Billiards Championship

New Structure for World Billiards Championships

In a departure from our usual dual-format World Championships of the past six years, World Billiards can now announce that the two World Championships will be split and played at different times of the year. This has largely come about due to the pressure we have previously put on the host venue by being there for 13 days straight.

The following dates are confirmed for the forthcoming 2018 World Championships:

19th OCTOBER 2018   Qualifying Tournament Northern SC, Leeds
20th-21st OCTOBER 2018 World Open (Jim Williamson Memorial) Northern SC, Leeds
22nd-26th OCTOBER 2018   World Championship (Long Format) Northern SC, Leeds
25th OCTOBER 2018 ¬† World Women’s Championship Northern SC, Leeds

Our thanks must go to Chris Williamson at the Northern Snooker Centre for agreeing to host us under these new conditions.

The entry fee for the Qualifying Tournament and the World Championship will be £80. Players not progressing through the Qualifying Tournament will be refunded £60.

The entry fee for the World Open (JWM) is ¬£40 and for the World Women’s Championship it is ¬£30.

2018 Asian Grand Prix

Asian Grand Prix Entry Form

We are pleased to announce that the Asian Grand Prix will proceed in Singapore from June 2nd to June 6th. The event will carry $7500 (Singapore) prize money and be a level 5 World Ranking Event with double ranking points. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances we are limited to the use of three tables at the Singapore Cuesports Academy. Players will get the maximum amount of playing time that is practical given entry numbers and available facilities. The format will be 100-up. Players will be required to referee matches for other players during both the round-robin and early knock-out stages, up to the quarter-finals. Referee duties will be indicated on the playing schedule.

World Billiards thanks Cuesports Singapore for overcoming some issues that presented themselves and hosting this premiere event. The entry form can be downloaded from the link at the top of the page. It is now safe for players to commit to travel arrangements. A recommendation for accommodation will be announced.

There will be a players briefing at the Academy on Friday June 1st, from 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm. There will be a buffet dinner reception for players following the meeting.
